World Time Clock # 1: Andersen GenÈVe Tempus Terrae

Svend Andersen is a watchmaker. Apart from his own watch brand, Andersen Genève, he founded the association Académie Horlogère of the Créateurs Indépendants (Academy of independent, creative watchmakers) in 1985, together with Vincent Calabrese, or AHCI for short. After nine years as a watchmaker, Patek Philippe became a self-employed watchmaker. According to his own statement, world time clocks are his great passion. This is the sign of Andersen’s 39-meter Tempus Terrae model. The world clock is home to amanufactory factory , with only a balance and inhibition from the manufactory Vaucher Fleurier. The in-house world time module developed Svend Andersen constantly. The caliber is installed in a yellow gold, white gold or red gold case (from 45,000 euros as of June 2016). With the world time module, a housing height of 8.9 millimeters is obtained. At the request of the customer, Stadttering can be customized, so the owner can for example immortalize his hometown on the clock. The dial plate center consists of the difficult to produce alloy blue gold, which is made of yellow gold and oxidized iron molecules. The latter transform the yellow color of the gold into its complementary color, blue.

World Time # 2: Ballwatch Engineer Master Ii Diver Worldtime

The American watch brand Ball Watch has with the Engineer Master II Diver World Time one of the few diving watches with world time function. The 24 hour-long time zones are displayed on the outer city ring, which is set via the screwed crown at 2 o’clock and simultaneously displays the remaining dive time. In addition, the carrier can also read off the current day of the week and the date. The Eta automatic caliber 2836 is equipped with a world- wide module that houses Ballwatch in a 45 millimeter and 30 bar pressure resistant stainless steel case. The readability of the 2,850 Euro-expensive diving watch with a world-wide function is also particularly noteworthy. On the hands and the dial, tubes are filled with a gas and are illuminated thanks to a constant chemical reaction without the need for external energy.

World Time Clock # 3: Baume & Mercier Capeland Worldtimer

With the Capeland Worldtimer, Baume & Mercier offers a world clock with a rotating 24-hour ring. Made possible by the automatic movement Sellita SW 300 with the world time module of the IWC. Since both brands belong to the Richemont Group, this collaboration is not surprising. The town names on the white dial are fixed; the best-read twelve-o’clock position takes London to account for the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). The night hours from 6:30 pm to 6:30 am color the Swiss brand on the ring blue. The Capeland Worldtimer measures 44 millimeters in diameter and 14.5 millimeters in height. The stainless steel model costs 7,200 euros, the red gold is available for 18,400 euros.

World Time # 4: Breitling For Bentley B05 Unitime Midnight Carbon

The World Time Clock B05 Unitime Midnight Carbon from Breitling for Bentley shows the 24 hour standard time zones, including any summer time. Its 49 millimeter stainless steel case carries a black DLC coating and incorporates the manufactory automatic caliber B05 with 70 hours of gear autonomy. New to Baselworld 2016, the rubber strap was launched with a front alligator leather insert. The Bentley B05 Unitime Midnight Carbon costs 13.830 euros. The World Clock is also available in red gold for 34.080 euros. The cheapest version is the pure stainless steel variant with light dial for 13.620 euros.

World Clock # 5: Cartier Caliber De Cartier World Time

The Caliber Cartier World of Cartier not only knows the time in all 24 full-time periods, but also shows the time difference of each time zone in the lower half of the dial. The home time itself is represented on a semicircle in the dial-plate center, the pointer end with the sun for the hours of the day and the end with the moon for the night hours. The reference locations are not displayed as usual on a dial on the dial, but can be read via a window in the housing flank. There are also two proofers with which the summer time can be set for the northern as well as the southern hemisphere. The functions are controlled by the automatic manufac- turer caliper 9909 MC, which is accommodated in a 45-millimeter-sized housing. A housing height of 17.4 millimeters is necessary to accommodate the functions in the watch case. The innovative world clock in white gold costs 54.500 euros, in rose gold it is 3.500 euros cheaper.

World Clock # 6: Chopard Luc Time Traveler One

The world clock 1966 WW.TC of Girard-Perregaux is officially presented to the Geneva clock 2017. It already finds its place among the top 15 world time clocks, since it is a reminiscence of one of the most famous models of the Swiss manufactory. The abbreviation “WW.TC” stands for “World Wide Time Control”. For the first time Girard-Perregaux uses the complication in the classic 1966 line. The rotatable city ring on the dial of the dial surrounds the hour ring with black and white segment for daytime and nighttime. The bearer adjusts the displays over the crowns at nine o’clock and three o’clock. The reference city is positioned at twelve o’clock with the aid of the former, the second displays hour and minute hands, with the 24 hour ring automatically adjusted. The automatic manufac- turing caliper GP03300-0022 / 0027 with in-house world-time module provides for the realization on the dial. Time and city dwelling can be adjusted in both directions – a process which is not possible with most comparable clockworks. The 40 millimeter Girard-Perregaux 1966 WW.TC is available in rose gold with a black alligator leather band for 24,300 euros or in stainless steel with alligator leather or stainless steel band (12,500 euros or 13,200 euros).
