On the way, we get to know the stunning Nepal of South Asia, the country’s different cultures, history, nature and varied landscapes.

Our journey begins in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, offering cultural experiences for all the senses. We travel to the tropical southern lowlands of Nepal, to explore Chitwan National Park, known for its rhinos and tigers, where we stay in local home accommodation, while supporting local sustainable tourism development. From Chitwan, we continue to the lush city of Pokhara, one of Nepal’s most famous travel destinations. Its location at the foot of the Annapurna massif attracts hikers from all over the world. The sunrise over the Himalayan peaks of over 8,000 meters is a unique experience! We return from Pokhara across the lower slopes of the Himalayas to the peaceful small town of Bandipur, where we enjoy the unique scenery of the region before returning to Kathmandu.

Itinerary

DAY 1 – FLIGHTS TO KATHMANDU

Overnight flights to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal.

DAY 2 – KATHMANDU

Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. After staying, we will go on a tour of Kathmandu. During the tour, we will explore the sights of Kathmandu city center, such as Durbar Square and the Swayambhunath Buddhist stupa, which offers handsome views over the city.

DAY 3 – KATHMANDU – CHITWAN

After breakfast, we leave the bustling Kathmandu behind us and drive about 5.5 hours from the hustle and bustle of the big city through the so-called lower slopes of the Himalayas. the central hills towards the low, tropical Terai lowlands of southern Nepal and the world-famous Chitwan National Park. We stay in comfortable home accommodation near the national park. The home has western toilets, no air conditioning. (OH)

DAY 4 – CHITWAN NATIONAL PARK

Full day program in the Chitwan National Park area: we get to know the animals as well as the life of the local Tharu tribe. Chitwan National Park and the surrounding areas are home to more than 500 rhinos and e.g. tigers and crocodiles. (UNDER)

DAY 5 – CHITWAN – POKHARA

After breakfast, we continue our journey north towards Nephara, Nepal’s third largest city. About a 5h drive will take us to this tropical valley, next to the snow-capped Himalayan mountains, which is also known for its picturesque lakes. Originally an important milestone in the trade route between Tibet and India, Pokhara is now a center for active tourism, with various lengths of hikes in the Himalayan mountains. (A)

DAY 6 – POKHARA

An early awakening and a short drive to Sarangkot Hill, where we witness a scenic sunrise as the peaks of the Himalayas spread out like a panorama in front of us. We will return to the hotel for breakfast. During the day we take a city tour as well as a boat trip on Fewa Tal Lake, from where we can admire the sunset over the mountains. (A)

DAY 7 – BANDIPUR

Today, a three-hour drive takes us east from Pokhara, to the peaceful small town of Bandipur, located at an altitude of 1,030 meters on the lower slopes of the Himalayas. Built in a traditional style, Bandipur offers stunning views of the high snow peaks of Annapurna, Dhaulagir, Manaslu and Langtang. In the afternoon we will take a walking tour of Bandipur’s old town. DAY 8 – KATHMANDU

After breakfast free time before about 4 hours drive back to Kathmandu. The rest of the day is free time in Kathmandu for shopping, for example. (A)

Transport to the airport and return flights back to Finland. (A)

Country information:

A Nepalese visa can be obtained on arrival from Kathmandu Airport. You will need a passport valid for at least the next 6 months for the visa. A Nepalese visa costs $ 30 for trips of less than 15 days and is paid in cash upon arrival.

Check that your basic vaccinations are valid during the trip. Hepatitis A vaccination is recommended for all travelers to Nepal. Malaria occurs in the lowlands of southern Nepal.

The currency of Nepal is the Nepalese Rupee (NPR). The currency of Nepal cannot be exchanged in Finland. Local currency can be withdrawn from an ATM in Kathmandu with Visa, Mastercard and Visa Electron cards. Cash can be exchanged at local exchange offices for local. International credit cards are available in Nepal.

Book a trip for about 20-25 € / day for meals and food drinks. Please also remember the tip and visa costs.

In addition to Nepal’s official language, Nepali speaks more than 100 different languages. The three main languages ​​of Nepal are Nepali, Maithili and Bhojpuri. In the areas favored by tourists, English is widely spoken and understood. A Finnish tour guide and a local guide will be happy to help in problem situations.
