So far a statistic to the global smartphone market was published by Kantar Worldpanel each quarter, now numbers for the wearable area will be published but also every three months. The first data now reveal that only 5.4 percent of all Germans have a fitness Tracker or a Smartwatch, whereas whole 12.2 percent in the United States.
Although we can meet people, which wrist is adorned by a wearable also in this country again, total distribution is however not quite as far advanced. This is confirmed by now the statistics published by the Kantar Worldpanel, according to which is only about every twentieth German owned a fitness trackers or wearables. Germany is still behind the EU average by 6.6 percent and far behind the United States, where roughly one in eight is a wearable on the arm.
Hotel Tracker > Smartwatches
Especially in the United States, the significantly more favourable and already longer available fitness tracker sell better than the expensive Samsung Gear Smartwatches, which often hit with several hundred U.S. Dolalr to beech. So, Apple in the United States currently has a market share of 6.8 percent, while the company is responsible for 61.7 percent of all wearables Fitbit, whose quarterly figures disappointed a few days ago.
In the EU, Smartwatches seem to have overtaken the fitness Tracker however. In this country the smart watches currently represent 55.2 percent of all wearables – only 22.9 percent in the United States. Also leads in terms of the market share of 18.5 percent, closely followed by Apple (14 percent) and Samsung (11.6 percent).
Using the data of the Kantar Worldpanels it will fall in the future easier, to observe the market of wearables and identifying trends. We are definitely looking forward to how the numbers will look in three months.
